Legacy
Utpal Kumar Basu is regarded as an important pioneer of modern Bengali poetry. - Met American poet Allen Ginsberg in Kolkata in the early 1960s and remained friends.
- Spent about 14 years (1964–77) in London and associated with various socialist organisations.
- His wife Santana was an English lecturer and died in November 2018 after a brief illness.
