Follows Aoyama Chizuru, a Japanese writer visiting Taiwan in 1938 during Japanese occupation, falling in love with her Taiwanese interpreter. Each chapter themed around a dish. Reflections on colonialism and translation with depictions of Taiwanese delicacies.
