Description
The Australian / Vogel Literary Award (Vogel Prize) was established in 1979, targeting unpublished manuscripts for young writers (originally under 35). It was an Australian literary award with a prize of AUD$20,000, and publisher Allen & Unwin guaranteed publication of the winning work, making it one of the most prestigious awards for unpublished manuscripts. Organized by The Australian newspaper, Allen & Unwin, and Stevns & Company. No awards were given in 1985, 2010, 2013, or 2019. The final award was presented in June 2024, after which the Vogel Award has been replaced by The Australian newspaper's new "The Australian Fiction Prize".
