Description
Founded by Erika Kronabitter (artist and writer), this poetry prize is awarded annually by Theater am Saumarkt (Feldkirch). Sponsors include the State of Vorarlberg, the City of Feldkirch, and the literary association literatur:vorarlberg. Open to German-language poets of any nationality, the competition accepted thematically free submissions from 2003 to 2012. From 2013 onward, each year's theme is derived from a line of the previous year's winning poem. Since 2016, exactly five unpublished poems per applicant are required. Judging is conducted by a rotating panel of German philologists and poets. Since 2020, an audience prize (Publikumspreis) determined by online public vote has been added alongside the main prizes. Winners are announced and honored each autumn at Theater am Saumarkt in Feldkirch, and winning works are archived in the Vorarlberg Library.
