Description

The Hermann Kesten Prize is an award presented by PEN Centre Germany to recognize outstanding contributions to supporting persecuted writers and advocating for freedom of expression. Established in 1985, it has been awarded annually since 1994. Since 2000, a prize of 10,000 euros has been provided under the sponsorship of the state of Hesse. The prize is named after the writer Hermann Kesten (1900–1996).
