An eight-volume epic about the growth and social changes of Kerala; his best-known work that earned him the title 'Mahakavi'.

He received many of Kerala's major literary awards and a Pala Narayanan Nair Chair was instituted at Mahatma Gandhi University. He is also remembered for contributions to film music and a documentary on his life.
