Description
The Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, instituted in 1993 by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi and named after Thunchaththu Ezhuthachan, is the highest literary honour in Kerala for individual and lifetime contributions to Malayalam literature. The award carries a cash prize of ₹500,000 and a citation; the prize money was increased by ₹50,000 in 2011. Winners are selected by a committee appointed by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi and are announced annually (typically in November).
