Description
The Robert Frost Medal (Frost Medal) is an award established by the Poetry Society of America in 1930 to honor distinguished lifetime achievement in American poetry. The first awards were presented in 1930 to Jessie Belle Rittenhouse, and posthumously to Bliss Carman and George Edward Woodberry. It was awarded 11 times over the 53 years following its founding, and since 1984, it has been awarded annually to living poets. Since 1995, recipients have the tradition of delivering the Frost Medal Lecture. Robert Frost received the award in 1941. Recipients are provided with a medal and prize money (US$5,000).
