Sahitya Akademi Award in the Meitei (Manipuri) language category. An annual award recognizing outstanding contributions to Meitei literature, awarded to excellent works or writers in the language. The first award in the Meitei category was given in 1973. Prize money is ₹1 lakh (Indian Rupees; approximately US$1,200 as per articles). No awards in 1975 and 1980.
