Description

The Zbigniew Herbert International Literary Award (Międzynarodowa Nagroda Literacka im. Zbigniewa Herberta) is an international literary award established in Warsaw in 2013, named after Zbigniew Herbert. It is awarded annually by the Zbigniew Herbert Foundation to recognize "outstanding artistic and intellectual literary achievements on the world stage which have a bearing on the world of values towards which Zbigniew Herbert’s work gravitated." The foundation was established in 2010, with Herbert's wife Katarzyna Dzieduszycka-Herbert involved in the founding initiative. The jury includes international literary experts such as Edward Hirsch, Jaume Vallcorba Plana, and Tomas Venclova, and winners are announced through the foundation's official announcements and media reports.
