The European Literature Prize (Europese Literatuurprijs) is a Dutch literature prize established in 2011, awarded to contemporary European novels published and translated into Dutch in the previous year. The author of the winning work receives €10,000, and the translator receives €5,000. The prize is an initiative of Nederlands Letterenfonds, the cultural center SPUI25, the weekly newspaper De Groene Amsterdammer, and the bookstore Athenaeum Boekhandel, supported by the Lira Fund and independent bookstores. Candidates are recommended by bookstores in the Netherlands and Flanders, and the final decision is made by a specialist jury.
