Description
Decrees 677 (August 1975) and 699 (September 1997) established the Premio Nacional Eugenio Espejo. Finalists are shortlisted by the National Council of Culture and the recipients are selected by the President of Ecuador. The award is normally bestowed every other year and covers five categories: Cultural Promotion, Arts, Literature, Science and Public or Private Institutions. Winners receive a monetary award, a diploma, a medal and a lifetime stipend.
