Description
The SAARC Literary Award is a literary prize awarded annually since 2001 by the Foundation of SAARC Writers and Literature (FOSWAL) to honor the contributions to literature by writers and poets from SAARC member countries. Recipient records are incomplete and vary by source, but Shamsur Rahman, Mahasweta Devi, Jayanta Mahapatra, Abhi Subedi, Mark Tully, Sitakant Mahapatra, Uday Prakash, Suman Pokhrel, Abhay K, etc. are listed as recipients (Suman Pokhrel is noted as having received it twice in some sources). FOSWAL also runs the "SAARC Young Writers Award" and other programs for young writers.
