The Vayalar Award is a literary prize awarded annually in the Indian state of Kerala to the best literary work written in Malayalam for that year. It was established in 1977 by the Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Trust to honor the poet and lyricist Vayalar Ramavarma. Initially, the prize money was ₹25,000 along with a silver plaque and certificate, but currently (as of the time of writing), the prize money has been increased to ₹100,000. The award ceremony is held every year on October 27, which is Ramavarma's death anniversary. As of 2024, there have been 48 awards (first recipient: Lalithambika Antharjanam, most recent recipient: Ashokan Charuvil).
