Description
The Kleist Prize (Kleist-Preis) is a German literary award established in 1912 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Heinrich von Kleist's death. It was an important literary award during the Weimar Republic era but was suspended in 1933. Revived in 1985, it was awarded biennially from 1994 to 2000. Winners receive a cash prize (€20,000) and honor. The list of winners is managed by Kleist-Archiv Sembdner and Kleist Gesellschaft.
